About the Event
Camellia Waldorf School cordially invites our families to a school-wide lantern walk on November 18 at 5 p.m. On that evening the sun will slide behind the Sacramento River at exactly 4:51. And as the shadows grow long and begin to darken the world around us, we invite you to meet us on the basketball court for a fireside story and then to stroll through the night with a glowing lantern. Afterward, we will return home quietly. The word lantern comes from the Greek word, lampein, which simply means--to shine. Lanterns shine the way forward and push away the surrounding darkness. They are symbols of warmth, peace, and protection. Waldorf schools all over the world have lantern walks at this time of year, and this year we are inviting the whole community to come and shine their light in honor of our dear Julieta Daé Garza Onofre.
