“The Wonder of Learning”

Camellia Waldorf School is happy to be offering a workshop on Saturday January 20th 2018, for parents and others interested in learning about the school’s educational approach.

Join our faculty in the wonders of their classroom, where they will explore with you their techniques of teaching. Workshops details are below, they have a minimal cost of $10 per workshop, that will cover materials fees.

9:00 – 9:30 am

“Come and play with us!”

This welcoming offering is only available to all enrolled in a workshop, down below.

with Mrs.Gunn movement & game teacher 
What is movement? How is it different than physical education? Why do we teach certain skills at a particular age? Join us as we play games and experience Spacial Dynamics the harmonious balance between our body and the space around us.

1) “A simple piece of silk can be so many things;” $10

with Mrs.Olga kindergarten teacher
A simple piece of silk can be so many things; a scarf, a cape, a play cloth for your child, and a perfect setting for a puppet show. We will provide the material, which includes a 35″x35″ silk cloth. If you want to dye more please bring your own.


2) “Math & Science in Middle School” $10

with Ms.Leigh fifth & sixth grade teacher
Math & Science in Middle School. Learn how the Waldorf math and science curriculum is ingeniously designed to meet the emerging intellect of the middle school child and guide them into the realm of independent critical thought through the observation of natural phenomena and the participation of hands-on activities. Get a bird’s-eye overview of the Waldorf curriculum for math and science in Grades 6-8, prove for yourself that the Pythagorean Theorem is much more than just a2 + b2 = c2, and experience the thrill of the roaring carboy as we explore the science of combustion

1) “Finger puppets bring to life a story” $10

with Ms.Jennifer preschool teacher
Come learn to make finger puppets and bring to life a story. We will make finger puppets for the simple sequential story “The Pot”. Learn how puppets can help children with transitions. Learn to use a simple cloth as a stage or simply put the puppet on your finger to enliven an activity.


2) “What is form drawing?” $10

with Mrs.Embrey pedagogical chair
What is form drawing? Why is it taught in Waldorf Schools? How do you do form drawing? What is it good for? These and other pertinent questions will be addressed during our participatory workshop. Join us and discover the power of the forms!

11:45 am – 12:15 pm
Lunch (optional)

Enjoy some bread and soup made with love and warmth by our faculty and staff, while enjoying the company of other participants.



Space is limited!

Childcare will be available for children 4 years and older. To reserve a spot for your child(ren) please contact our Aftercare Coordinator, Lalli Abar at labar@camelliawaldorf.org, and provide her with your child(ren)’s name and date of birth.
The fee will be $5.00 per child. Cash is the only form of payment and is to be given directly to Lalli, at the time of drop off with the aftercare staff, the day of the workshop.
If you do not reserve a spot for your child(ren) the fee will be $10.00 per child.
IMPORTANT: Payment for childcare is required at drop off, in order for your child(ren) to be admitted.
