The SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR is hired by, reports to, and is
supervised by the Board of Trustees.


Camellia Waldorf School seeks a highly organized and responsible full-time school administrator who will be a principal representative of the school with internal and external communities. The administrator will supervise office staff and be a link between Faculty, parents and the Board. This position requires excellent capacities in organization, verbal and written communication, and thorough attention to detail. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership capabilities and be a person motivated by a primary desire to lead from a place of service, focused upon the needs of others – one who empowers, listens, envisions and inspires.

  • To administer the day-to-day operations of the school, including exercising fiscal, budgetary, and legal authority as well as managing risk and school resources in collaboration with designated individuals and groups.
  • To lead and manage the administrative staff
  • To work in close collaboration with pedagogical leadership
  • To monitor and address the well-being of the whole school community and to facilitate positive interactions and working among school constituencies.
  • To lead in the execution of the school’s vision for the future.
  • To embody, advocate, and execute the mission and values of the school
  • Oversee performance objectives and job reviews for non-teaching staff, updating job descriptions as needed
  • Negotiate and maintain contracts; e.g., property lease, janitorial service, performance venues
  • Manage and report issues concerning legal liability and regulatory compliance with laws
  • Develop and manage a budget, oversee accounts receivable/payable, oversee tax filings, etc. (in conjunction with Business Manager
  • Oversee the payroll and human resource responsibilities
  • Working with the Board and Faculty, create and implement the policies and procedures of Camellia Waldorf School
  • Complete and/or distribute reports, correspondence, and other documents necessary to facilitate the business of the school
  • Report enrollment and tuition payment status to the Board of Trustees monthly
  • Notify the Board of Trustees and Administrative Committee monthly of all upcoming compliance dates and disposition of the previous month’s compliance activities
  • Communicate to the appropriate school body all issues of interest/concern which come to the Administrator
  • Attends business portion of all Board of Trustees’ and Faculty meetings as a non-voting member
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Superb organizational skills and thorough attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (mentioned in introductory paragraph)
  • Friendly, warm, and welcoming demeanor with the ability to take charge when needed
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,) and preferably QuickBooks
  • Ability to pick up new computer programs quickly
  • Background in and/or knowledge of: anthroposophy, Waldorf pedagogy, and the social ideals which lie behind the Waldorf educational movement
  • Knowledge of general principles and techniques of school administration, including finance, budgeting, and personnel administration
  • Passionate about Waldorf education
