Camellia Waldorf School

Camellia Waldorf is an independent, co-educational elementary and preschool. The initial impulse for Camellia Waldorf School arose in the mid-1980's when Sacramento Waldorf School (in Fair Oaks) found itself with full classes and waiting lists. Teachers at that school observed that several families were making long commutes from various Sacramento neighborhoods, and the suggestion was made that a new Waldorf school be formed to meet the needs of families living closer to downtown.

The founding Board included teachers from Sacramento Waldorf School. They were soon joined by prospective parents who sought a high quality learning environment for their children.

Hiring, site, budget, and enrollment work was done and in September 1989 the school opened its doors at the present site. Camellia Waldorf is proud to serve families of all religious beliefs and diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds.
